Wednesday was such a great great day. If all school days were like that, i would live to go to school. All we had was a marketing management lecture conducted by our favourite ms brenda lim. she sure can click with us with her lingo and her sense of humour. Sch's ended after that mere 2 hrs. We were all attired for soccer however, so of course it was soccer mania! right after lunch, in the hot noon sun we were out at the hockey astro pitch getting ourselves fried. HAHs was fun though it was damn draining. Played like crazy for 2 hours and then we had to stop cause we had a special trip to our sch's health science block. Haha hoped Dr Uma didnt mind our smelly sweaty bodies in her lab. Not like she didnt have other kinds of bodies in that lab. grins, dead ones. Yeap we were there for our lesson in anatomy for our sports & wellness studies module. Its so cool la, she handed out the various models of our skeletal parts as she explained the different parts of the body and we found out that we were holding REAL bones imported in from germany on our hands. haha quite funny really cause they were joined together with strings to form our hands, spinal cords etc. Our bones look really cool ar inside. Its such an effective way of learning cause we're actually understanding and seeing whats inside.
Then came what we've been all excited to see. The cadavers (dead bodies) were in an adjacent room. When we went in they were covered in towels, however thankfully it wasnt a full body. Its all different major body parts taken from unclaimed bodies in the 60s. So there was an arm, upper trunk, lower torso, legs and urm a head split into half to its waist. We saw all the muscles, ligaments, tendons, arteries and veins that runs all the way in us. Its like wow. Freaky yes, but im really thankful for the bodies of these ppl in their contribution to science. There were many internal organs and all but our main concerns were the muscles, tendons etc. ok i'll stop scaring you guys with details.
Next im gonna talk about is the research report i read up on Professor Phillip G Zimbardo's Stanford Prison Experiment. Now you're thinking, 'hey there's no prison named Stanford Prison around', yep its a makeshift one and its horribly chilling how drastically human beings can change in such environments. Read about how the experiment unfolded here http://www.prisonexp.org/
My verdict: i was shocked over how readily humans can turn so evil. how the line between reality and experiment blurred so easily and quickly. i would bet those 6 days would seem like months to the prisoners because of what they went through, its just horrible. Its right when they said prisons should promote human values instead of degrading them, its never right when another human being willingly abuse and put another down like that. No one should have such rights. And then there were the real life accounts of how massacres occur in prisons where the prisoners rebelled because all they wanted was basic human rights and the guards were given the go ahead by a governer to use full force on them because of that. Like what the hell. Its so easy falling into a authoritarian role and completely forgetting your human morales. That experiment was conducted in the 70s, i darent think of how prisons are like in present day conditions, its probably five folds worst.
